WHY I LOVE COMING BACK TO CALIFORNIA
*i love babies, well kids almost more than anything, and when i'm at school i have no little ones around to play with, so when i come home i will most likely kidnap your babies.
* my momma cooks for me!! She not only cooks dinner for me every night but she is constantly cooking my favorite meals cause she knows how crappy i eat when i am up at school.
* i get to sleep in till whenever i feel like it cause i have nothing to do all day!
*mini road trips with the family. my dad likes to get out of the house on the weekends so we find ourselves going to random places every weekend. [[not all of us agree on one type of music so we all pull out our i-pods and just drive]]
* family wards are so much more exciting than singles wards. every sunday i get to just sit and people watch and it is very entertaining. everyone bets on who is going to take out their crying kid first, which kid is going to run up to the stand, and which elderly person is going to start snoring first. a little irreverent but we can't help ourselves!!
* I CAN SEE THE SUN!!! The first few days i get here i just want to run around the whole time in a t-shirt. it gets a little old after a few days though, when i remember that 50 degrees really isn't that warm.

christmas lights
i'm obsessed with christmas lights. they are really one of my favorite little things ever, so i always look forward to coming home and seeing the christmas lights in livermore. every year my family goes with my grandparents to livermore and we go to dinner at a place called yin yin and then go look at this house. i don't know who these people are but they go ALL out at christmas. they use about 3 million christmas lights [no joke] and deck out their house. Every year they do a different display so it never gets boring. I think everyone is getting a little tired of this ongoing tradition but I LOVEE IT!

christmas candy
this is definently the time of year that i get chubby. Not only am i at home getting all the free meals that i want, but my mom and i are constantly baking christmas candy. It's our family tradition to make plates of candy for all our friends and deliver them to everyone's door as a family. This year we made EVERYTHING there is to make...caramel, caramel with chocolate, pumpkin pie fudge, fudge, orange cranberry bark, caramel corn, snicker doodles, ginger snaps, toffee, cashew brittle and so on. It was a fun to cook but i seriously feel 10 pounds heavier.
side note:
check out our hot little family
we picked up some nice diet plans and some hot new moves

saying goodbye

saying goodbye to everyone you care about so much is always hard, but saying goodbye this particular semester was way harder for me than it has ever been. I have made so many AMAZING friends this year and it's not to easy to think of life without them when they have been there everyday for months. Most of my friends are on summer/fall track so they will be gone this winter and My best friend sara is transferring to provo so i will never get to live with her again, not going to lie, it makes me real sad but I am way grateful to be able to be home with my family for a few weeks and i get to go to san diego for new years so that will be waaaay fun. it's so warm here and meals are free!!
Next semester i am living with 5 of the best friends i have and i'll be snowboarding a ton, so that gets me excited, i know its gonna be a ton of fun but it was sad to say goodbye to such an amazing one.

so i've decided that i am going to start a new little blog tradition, picture of the week. This one is definently a keeper.

it's cold outside

this weekend was absolutely perfect cause i got to spent it with my favorite people!! candy came up here from utah and we spent the whole weekend with my roommates and skyler. we didn't do much of anything but playing games, dancing around the living room, and just laughing but it was so much fun!!! I absolutely love candy so much and i am so glad that she is my best friend, and she is looking soooo stinken good these days. We made a baby crib and candy and i slept in it all weekend, then du

I took one
final today and think i did really good so we will see how i do. life is so exciting right now...i'm a happy girl!

winter is here!!

Winter is here in good ole' idaho and even though i HATE driving the snow i am not minding the snow too much this year, i am actually kind of enjoying it. i have grown some kind of weird new love for it, but i am glad i am actually more happy about it this year. last night skyler and i decided that we wanted to go play in the snow today, and then we thought about it and thought going snowboarding would be more fun. so today when i got out of my classes, Skyler, me, and steve drove up to Grand Targhee and did a half day of snowboarding. It was SO fun and the snow was perfect. The drive was absolutely beautiful and i actually did REALLY good coming down the hills. I didn't eat it even once. i was sooo impressed with myself!!! Next semester i am taking a class where you go snowboarding for a full day every wednesday and i am so excited about it!!! and it's a plus that hannah, skyler, and steve are all taking the class with me. today got me pumped!!

ENGAGED!?

my friend skyler and i spend almost every waking hour together. Whenever you see him, i'm probably there, whenever you see me he is most likely with me. He is seriously the funniest person i have ever met and hanging out with him is always a good time. My roommates absolutely love him so it never bothers them that we are dancing around the living room, or doing whatever. I have no clue why but one day we started to joke that we were engaged, so skyler and i started to take the joke to the extreme and last night we took fake engagement pictures. Notice our matching outfits and the biggggg fake ring. Don't worry mom, everyone knows it's just our little joke.

i love backpacking!!?
This is the winter wonderland that i was hking through for the last 3 days. Let me just tell you, this trip was INTENSE!! so much harder than i thought it would be. But it was also alot better than i thought it would be, in that i fell in love with the group of people i went with. At first, i was way sketchy to be spending 3 days with this little group of ten people but by the middle of the first day i was having the time of my life with them. i don't think i stopped laughing the WHOLE trip, which made the conditions alot easier to bear. however the trip was so much more INTENSE than i thought it would be. I knew that we were backpacking about 20 miles but i didn't consider that it was through mountains, thats a WHOOOOOLE lot of uphill, now i don't mind uphill too much, but being the snow, was a completely different story. we were hiking through about 2 feet of snow the whole time, so the snow went to about my knees, each step was harder than the last but somehow i made it, with a 50 pound pack on my bac
k!! As for the weather, it was just as cold as i thought it would be, at night it got to about -15 and during the day we were at about 9 degrees, and it snowed the WHOLE time. Sleeping was way rough cause you just could not get warm, but other than that, i was just able to hang out by the fire or we would be hiking which warmed you up. Either way i wore 7 layers at all times so i couldn't of been TOO cold. I lost 6 pounds in 3 days, as a result of alot of hiking and bad bad meals [everything we brought completely froze, and even though we had a little stove, my food group wasn't the best with measurements. Snacking wasn't too much of an option cause all our snacks (granola bars, powerbars, fruitsnacks, bagel, ect) froze] . Even though this expedition was tough i really did have the time of my life and i took away SO much from it that i will have forever. When i was out there i felt so close to my heavenly father and was able to appreciate such a beautiful creation of his. The views were absolutely breath taking and i saw all kinds of wildlife in it's natural habitat. Some moose walked through our little camp and i thought of my mom, and how she would DIE to see that! So overall i had a very good trip. i don't know if i would do it again but i am so grateful for the experience!!

highlights
i must have had a really exciting thanksgiving break to give up blogging for so long right??
not really but i did have a good trip. i'll just do a little highlight of events and catch up.
THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY- My family picked me up fro
m the airport and we went straight there. It was the perfect little way to welcome me back to California, and good food.
JEFFREY GOT BRACES- What a cute little surprise it was for me to see Jeffrey for the first time in months, open his mouth and see a nice little set of metal! He says he hates them, but i think he secretly likes them, i did. I think they actually look cute on him, so much so, i made it a highlight of my trip.
MY DAD'S 50TH BIRTHDAY! - it seems so crazy to me that my dad is 50!! We surprised him with 5o reasons why we love byron/da
d posted all over our house when he woke up. It was fun for him to walk around the house and see all these nice/funny things people had to say about him. Then the family came over for a little birthday dinner consisting of hot dogs and hamburgers, my dad's favorite's!! He's the best dad and i am glad i got to be there for his birthday!
FAMILY PICTURES- The most recent family pictures that we have, Scotty is about 2 or 3 years old. We have been meaning to take family pictures for years but i think everyone has been avoiding it due to the dysfunctional experience all family pictures turn out to be. But my mom finally scheduled them and the experience wasn't a bad one at all. We all worked together really well and made getting a good picture of my sister the priority. The only problem is making my sister smile consists of sneezing and saying all kinds of silly things. I think half the pictures are going to turn out with my dad fake sneezing, or my mom talking, trying to make rachel laugh. But i think we got a few good ones and a good little family experience out of it.
MY SISTER AND I's MATCHING FOOTIE PJ's - Though i am used to living
in FREEZING weather i am used to my apartment being very toasty. We have heated floors and a heater that runs 24/7 [we don't pay the electric bill]. So when i was at home i was FREEZING in our house which has a thermostat set at 68 degrees. I brought very little warm clothes cause i expected warm weather in california and was not expecting to be shivering around the house. So one night i couldn't take it anymore and had to go buy some warm pajamas. I found some footies at target and thought they would do the job just perfect, funny thing is, my sister had a matching pair!
MY NEW LITTLE BUDDY- Thanksgiving was at our house this year, so all of my mom's side of the family came up to visit. I hadn't seen my cousins on that side of the family for about a year, and when they are young, they grow so much in just a year! So this year i bonded with my little cousin evan who is now 3 years old. When my cousins arrived, he immediately started to play with me and we played the whole day! He wouldn't give me 2 seconds to myself but i didn't even mind. I adore kids and don't get to play with too many when i am up in Idaho so it was a special treat for me to come home and get to play!!
MY MOMMA REDECORATED MY ROOM- I walked in the door exhausted from a loooong day of traveling and went straight up to my room. I walked in and it was completely different. New rug, bedspread, wall frames, seat cover, pillows and just EVERYTHING was different and i actually like it ALOT. i don't usually trust other people to do my decorating but my mom did a real good job!
It was nice to have something new and not have to do all the work. THANKS MOM!
speaking of my mom, her favorite child is still the hamster. After walking into my new room, i was shortly after greeted by that dang hamster. Somethings just don't change..

pinnacle parties

if you are going to get a job doing summer sales, pinnacle is the company to go for around here. they always throw all kinds of parties to promote their company and get college students to work for them. well these promotional parties have in the past years turned into the big events in Rexburg, when pinnacle throws a party EVERYONE goes. So now they have started to make them themed and people go all out. They are some of the best dance parties around here because they are so well publicized. last night pinnacle threw a party and the theme was camo.
WHY I LOVE PINNACLE PARTIES
1. they always have all kinds of free stuff. and if you don't win anything they have pizza and soda. [the staple of a college students diet]
2. it's an excuse to get dressed up.
3. such a bonding time for you and all your friends when you are getting ready.
4. i LOVE to dance.
5. the only way new music gets to rexburg. you always here it first at pinnacle.
6. the after parties which consist of all kinds of snacks and a movie.
7. always a fun time.
8. i love to meet new people, and this is a pretty good way to do so.
9. if you have a group project due on monday and you forgot to get the people in your groups number, you can almost ALWAYS find them all the party.

i love my roomies
just incase i haven't said it latley...
I LOVE MY ROOMMATES!!
this year has been so amazing and living with them has been half the experience. they are my best friends and living with them is perfect. We all get along and can talk things out when they get in the way. Tonight we all were cooking dinner together and just laughing and i just realized how much i adore every one of them for their own unique qualities.

top ten
So i have been TOTALLY slacking when it comes to blogging.
i'll catch you up a little
TOP TEN EVENTS OF THE LAST 2 WEEKS?
10. SNOW!! I will hate the snow in about a week or 2 but last weekend when it snowed i was SO excited. It w
as such a little thing that totally made my day THAT much brighter.
9. SNAKE BITE! Snake bite is a little restraunt that a little bird told my friend about. So a group of us got together and thought that we would try it out. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER EATEN! i am not a burger person AT ALL but the burgers there are amazing. If anyone ever comes to visit here i would recommend this place in a heart beat. It is just alittle place in down town Idaho Falls but the food, just amazing.
8. Over night trip to Utah. Candy had a hard few couple of days and i was supposed to be going down to Utah anyways so i drove down to stay with her and try to help her through a few things. The plans for everyone coming to Utah fell through but it was still nice to go down to utah for just a day. I got to see
dani lewis, brady, candy, and chase all in one trip. I felt good about myself because i was able to be there for candy when she needed it and still had such a good time.
7. HALLOWEEN! I LOVE HALLOWEEN! Everyone just seems so happy and i love it when people get all dressed up. If you knew me in high school you know how much i LOVED school spirit days and dressing up. So know that i am out of high school and in college i feel like halloween kinda is that day where i get to go all out like i used to. It's so nerdy of me but halloween was such a blast. We went to a big dance party and just had a ton of fun. Before hand we had a little get together up stairs with halloween cookies and all kinds of halloween snacks. I love getting into the spirit of a holiday no matter what it is! This year, i was a spice girl.
6. Twin day with Sara! Sara is one of my closest friends up here and i just absolutely ADORE her. She is one of the funniest people you will ever meet but is a good talker t
oo. One day i had to go to Idaho Falls to pick something up and she came with me. When we were there we go matching outfits and decided to have a twin day. It was fun to be alittle twin and just laugh with her all day long.
5. MEG ME
G IS ENGAGED!!! There is no cute story, he just asked her at his house but i am SO HAPPY for her. Meg and Dan have been dating for a little over year and are one of the cutest little couples i know. I am so happy for her and i know that this is something she truely deserves and is ready for. I just can't wait for the w
edding. It's gonna be a fun one!
4. GIRLS NIGHT! All of us girls around here date alot and always seem to be busy with something so we don't really have too many nights with just the girls. So this last friday we decided that we were going to do something as just girls and leave the boys at home. WE went out for a night in IF and had SO much fun. There's something being with just a big group of girls that is always fun!
3. I ATE AT
THE GALLEY!! For most students freshman year consists of the dorms and the galley for dinner every night. But my experience was a little different cause i never did the dorms so i never really experienced the galley. What is the galley? It the big cafeteria on campus that serves breakfast lunch and dinner buffet style. All you can eat. The other night some friends and i were talking and none of us had been before. SO we thought it would be the perfect way to all break our fast. So we all went, let's just say it was an interesting experience!
2. The baby crib. Living in Rexburg you have to be real creative and come up with things to do to entertain yourself cause there isn't too much to do. Many nights you resort to going to hollywood video and renting a movie. The problem with that is all we have is 2 small couches in our apartments. SO we came up with
a little something that we call the baby crib. We put both couches together and all lay in the middle of them. This way you can fit 5 people instead of one or 2 people per couch. You just get a bunch of blankets and it is real comfortable, SO comfortable we all fell asleep and slept in it saturday night!
1. I WENT TO EVERY SINGLE ON OF MY CLASSES FOR 2 WEEKS IN A ROW. I know that this doesn't seem like too big of a deal but for me, it is. It is so hard to get out of bed and walk to class, uphill, in 20 degree weather. So many mornings i am tempted to just not go to class and many of those mornings i give in. But i've made a goal to miss no more classes and i am SO proud that i have been keeping with that goal!

BYUi sports?

BYU is famous for all their sports teams. They have amazing volleyball, football, and swim teams. People come from all over just to see a BYU football game [in fact i'm going to one next weekend!] BUT i am here at BYU Idaho where we have NO sports teams. CORRECTION, we have inter mural sports teams. Basically about 10 people get together and form some type of team. Then other groups get together and do the same thing and they all have their little games. So it isn't anything important but guys are ALWAYS competitive. So yesterday some of my roommates and i were SO bored we thought we would go watch some of our friends play inter mural flag football. We went to maverick, got some hot chocolate, bundled up and went. It was actually a ton of fun to watch and i am glad that there are still some types of sports to get involved in when i am up here. Afterwards we all went to Ramirez [the only mexican food place in town] and all just ate a laughed till curfew. Even though this town is small and dumpy and i am glad i am up here making the best of it.
And i have to send a shout out to my mom for the quilt i am snuggled up in, in the picture. She made it for me and sent it up to me just yesterday, I LOVE it.

not even a little cute
when i was about to graduate from high school and we were preparing for the graduation party my mom picked about the ugliest picture of me ever taken for the invites. she claimed "it was just so lauren" and she thought it would be perfect, all i saw in it is that i thought it was probably the worst picture of me ever taken. well, i think i found one to beat it...

halloween weeeks
last night started off the 2 week halloween celebration we have in rexburg. here halloween is an excuse to throw parties and get dressed up, so instead of giving it a night, we give it a few weeks. My REAL costume isn't here yet so yesterday night hannah and i dressed as twins [baseball players] for the pinnacle party. We went with a huge group and just had so much fun dancing till about 1 AM [curfew]!! After the party we all went to my friend tracey's APT[downstairs] and had a little after party. we had gone to the store earlier and bought a bunch of snacks so we had chocolate AND white chocolate fondue, chips/salsa/guacamole, pizza, and drinks and all just hung out till about 4 when we all were just dead and went home. I LOVE halloween and i am so excited for these next few weeks!!!

rummikub!
has anyone ever heard of RUMMIKUB? i swear that it is a game only anyone 80 and older would play but my roommates and i are OBSESSED! I saw it at my friends apartment one day and thought it was dominoes so i stole it and read the instructions. It's nothing like dominoes but it sounded interesting. So i borrowed it and took it home and now my roommates and i are addicted. When we are all home from school instead of sitting around and watching TV we immediately grab rummikub. People come over and see us all gathered around the table in an intense game of rummikub and just laugh but we don't even budge. It's just one of those games you can't get enough of IE: PHASE 10!!
SO basically i would encourage ANYONE reading this blog to go out and buy a game. It's good for your brain and a good way to get away from watching hours of TV (or doing hours of homework!)

fright fest
All this month a big group of us is doing something called fright fest. For every night of October we have been watching a different scary movie. It's been totally fun and it has actually attracted quite a crowd. We all have T-Shirts that we had made and it is just a good little bonding experience. Some nights you actually see the movie, others you fall asleep or just talk the whole time, depends on how good the movie is. Last night some fright fest friends and i decided to go to an actual "haunted" place just for the scare. So i had been to this deserted village out in the middle of no where before but no one had actually gotten out of the car so i thought it would be a good place to go. Let me tell you, this place was FREAKY!!! It had snowed yesterday so the whole village was covered in snow. The village houses were all falling apart an
d when we went in they were full of broken down box springs, broken mirrors, and all kinds of sketchy things. We walked around for a little while and started to hear things, got scared and left. Our little haunted village was just a little reminder to me why i love rexburg so much. It's so small and just in the middle of no where. So if you just drive around for a little you are guaranteed to find SOMETHING to do, whether it is bridge jumping, going to a "haunted house" or just playing the snow you have to be creative here, but you end up with a bunch of experiences you wouldn't find living in a city. You end up getting really close to your friends cause t
hey are all you have out here and it really is a good experience. i totally feel like i look like my mom in this picture!! CRAZY!
oh and i can't forget... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY TWIN..MADDIE HAZEN!!! i love you so much and i miss you EVEN MORE! Hope to come visit you soon!!

i love FHE?
Every year i always seem to get screwed when it comes to FHE (family home evening). Our ward is full of all kinds of good looking, nice guys but they are NEVER in my FHE group. Who is in my group....well every werid, 27 year old, nintendo loving, braces wearing guy get together and live in one apartment and they are ALWAYS my FHE brothers. By now i should be used to it but every semester when they are announcing the groups i always cross my fingers for something good, never works. So instead of being ANTI-FHE like my other roommates i decided that this semester i would make the best of it. so tonight i decided to not only go but help plan it. Our group consisted of the 4 boys and me. But it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, we carved pumpkins. I haven't carved a pumpkin for years so it was fun to do and i got to know my brothers a little more...which was interesting. I have some good stories from the experience i guess, never talked so much about star trek and halo (which i knew NOTHING about till tonight). By the end of the night travis and i had carved a pretty sweet pumpkin and i felt good about myself for going. (this is all with an execption to winter 07' SHOUT OUT TO ALEX KNIGHT)

sunday afternoon blogging

i am so bad at keeping up with this. It's all the late nights that turn into mornings and days that disappear. so i thought sunday afternoon would be a good time to catch up.This weekend meg's boyfriend dan is in town so me, meg, hannah, dan, and to of our other guy fiends alex and mike have been hanging out a ton.
Friday night then my friend paige and i got a group of about 50 people together and we all went to the civil defense caves. We hiked about a mile through the caves till it was absolutely pitch black and somewhat flat and played glow stick hide and go seek. We brought about 60 glowsticks and everyone just brakes them and speckles them all over our clothes and the sides and floor of the cave. It is pitch black so you can't see anyone but a ton of glowing dots everywhere. So everyone blends in to the cave and you play hide and seek. It is fun cause you can just stand there and not be found cause you blend so well. It was SUCH a fun time!!
Sat
urday hannah and i decided that we wanted to take a roadtrip to see some of the prettier parts of idaho that we have heard about but never actually seen. So since the weather was good we got a little group together and went to mesa falls. It is
only about 45 minutes away and it was SO beautiful! You just stand at the top of this mountain and you look out and all you can see is beauty. The trees were yellow, orange, red and green and in the middle of them all is this beautiful waterfall. The weather was SO prefect and it was just such a beautiful place to be. After leaving the falls we were all starving so we stopped by good ole' big 'to get some lunch. If you've been to either ricks or BYUi you would know what big jud's is because i don't think anyone leaves this school without the e
xperience. One burger takes up a whole plate so basically you buy one burger and it can feed about 4. perfect for a bunch of cheap college students!

DBW
Dance Battle Wednesday started of last winter in just a lounge of one off the local apartment complexes and has turned into something HUGE in rexburg. Every Wednesday night without a fail if you go to the "rex" you will get to see that we
eks battle. 2 different people or groups of people battling it out on the dance floor. It is like our own little "so you think you can dance." This week was extra special because we had MTV cameras
and people from some MTV show come and dance against our locals.so i am not sure exactly who this is but he is from MTV and we took a picture with him!!So you could only imagine how excited the whole town of rexburg was to have someone semi-famous here. Let's just say it was a bit crowded.
After the dance battle every week there is usually a dance. The DJ keeps the music going till everyone is worn out so it is always a good time. After watching
everyone dance you just want to do it yourself. It is a good way to get to know a bunch of new people and to just be social. After watching everyone pull out there moves tonight i just had to pull out some of mine!
P.S. i finally figured out how to upload pictures onto this without using photobucket. so now you can click on the pictures to see them bigger!

ADDICTION!
i have a new addiction...
FROZEN YOGURT!
WHY I LOVE FROZEN YOGURT
1. good rich flavor but healthier than ice cream
2. melts in your mouth
3. it's almost guilt free
4. a good bonding experience for everyone who goes
5. the flavors change daily and are always fun to try
the girls upstairs got me into it and every since then it has been all downhill.
-i have the number's of both mavericks in town in my phone (flavors change daily)
- if their flavors are no good, i have the number for mill hollow. (just a bit more expensive)
it is to this point where when we were in provo, we drove around just looking for the best fro yo in town at 10 in the morning in the MIDDLE of a hail storm.
but look how happy we were when we got it! i guess that there are alot worse things to be addicted to, and it is a little better than ice cream..
SIDE NOTE: they usually aren't THAT big...these ones were free from this place in provo and that was the size they gave us. doesn't mean we didn't eat it all though!

comference weekend!
WHAT A WEEKEND!!!!
To sum up everything in the quickest way possible, 15 girls all under one roof. about 10 guys who didn't leave till the sun rose. 6 hours of sleep ALL weekend. An actual mall=too much money spent. Laughing all day and all night. OH and (rob and rach will be so proud) SUSHI!
Basically i had a blast this weekend. We played games into the morning and just all got along so perfect. Everyone kinda split up during the day and met back up at night. I spent Saturday with Brady who i hadn't seen for SO long and it was real nice to catch up. but now i am so dead. That 4 hour drive home almost killed me, but i did it!
conference this morning was so amazing. The spirit is SO strong there and you know that what you are listening to is the truth more than anything. Everyone there is so respectful, it is just a beautiful place to be. I LOVED Elder Eyring's talk the very best. I think he is such a great man. I am so glad i had the opportunity to go again this year!!
If you haven't met my roommates before the 2 girls with me in this picture are my BEST FRIENDS. This is our second year living together and we are basically inseparable, in the best way possible.
