my valentine

This morning i woke up to a nice little valentines surprise from skyler. He was going to decorate my hallway but our door was locked and Skyler couldn't get in so he decorated my car. It was covered in posterboards and the inside was full of balloons and all kinds of valentines treats and some of my favorite stuff. it was such a nice surprise cause i usually don't really do anything on Valentines and i was just expecting a little card or something so i was WAAAAAY excited when i saw all the work he put into making me feel special. At night we went on a little date then when we got back his friends came over cause they had a surprise for me too. They had a shirt made for me that says "we love Lauren" and has a picture of them, then the back has a little inside joke of ours quoted on it. It made me laugh. We had a little valentines party with all of us, i made cupcakes and a big heart shaped cookie so we all ate and just had a good time. I would say that this was a pretty great valentines.

SO in the spirit of valentines day i thought i would take a second to write down the people i love and care about

i'm....BORING!

i keep getting told to update my blog but i feel like i have nothing to blog about. i mean i was looking through pictures of this last weekend and this is what i got...


me and my two favorite people, passed out in the car on the way home from dinner. I have realized, my life has become so unexciting!!! I mean i could update my blog everyday but all you would be hearing about is how i fell asleep in class...AGAIN! So i am very sorry for this disappointing blog, when my life gets more exciting i will blog about it, and let yall know...until then, i won't bore you!!

a healthy lifestyle?

i am on the run a lot and i have noticed this semester that my shelf never has very much food on it, so i started to think, what do i eat? I have come to a depressing or maybe not so depressing realization that my diet consist of snacks from maverick. Maverick is a gas station just down the street from my apartment that sells EVERYTHING and even though we are usually in negative weather here in rexburg i am STILL addicted to their frozen yogurt. I felt so pathetic today when i called to find out the flavors and the lady on the phone asked, "seriously, in this weather?!" I don't know why but no matter how cold it is it will never get old to me. To add to this frozen yogurt addiction i am now addicted to their chocolate milk. It's one of those things you just crave and i can't help but give in everytime. I have somehow convinced myself that these things are healthy, FAT FREE frozen yogurt AND LOW FAT chocolate MILK. I mean growing up my mom couldn't pay me to drink milk and now i am consuming it so willingly. I think i need some help!!

feeling grateful

Life is pretty amazing and i have so much to be grateful for. Some times i find it more useful to when i am reflecting on life to write down what i am grateful for so i can physically see all the blessings i have in my life. so, some things i am GRATEFUL for:

Happy birthday CANDY

Happy Birthday Candy!!!
this last weekend was my best friends birthday and she came up here to celebrate it!! So last night i made her a birthday cake and invited a few people over for a little get together. we danced around, played PHASE TEN (my personal favorite), and all just hung out. It was such a fun time to have a ton of friends over at once and just have fun!!
Candy and i have been best friends since we met at EFY years ago. For some reason we started calling each other summey and have referred to each other as that ever since. I spent much of my senior year of high school flying out to provo to visit her and now that i am up in Idaho we are able to visit each other a little more often (whenever we feel like making the 3 1/2 hour drive)!! She is one the sweetest people i know and is so fun to be around! She attracts crowds cause of her outgoing personality and it really has meant alot to me to have her in my life. We have been through thick and thin together and she has stayed a part of my life though all the distance between us for years. she is one of those friends that you just know you'll have for a long time. I love you Candy!!

ready to here some complaining cause here it comes..
the snow is really starting to get to me this winter, last winter was not so bad but this one, just ridiculous. i mean it snowed at least a foot of snow just yesterday alone. i am getting very tired of the repetitive having to scrape snow off my car anytime i want to go ANYWHERE, not to mention trying to open the doors to my car that are frozen shut. i remember being excited for the snow to come, WHAT WAS I THINKING. it's really not fun to slip at least 10 times every time i walk to class. the fact that i can't ever look cute because i have to wear 5 layers, and the snow just ruins any reason for doing your hair. i mean the snow is beautiful, and i do love snowboarding, but it's just too much work for me. I'm ready for some sun.
ok no more complaints coming from me, i just got them all out.

p.s. i realize this picture isn't amazing, but it shows how excited we are about the snow....which is not at all.

5:00 HOMEWORK
6:00 Skyler gets off work, dinner and hanging out tilll curfew.
this intense schedule has put me a little behind on blogging. i think i need to get my priorities straight here......i mean blogging should be factored somewhere into there. i'll work on it. and update SOON!!
but as for now, i'm a HAPPY girl!

slankets

My dad has an addiction : QVC!! He seriously watches it every single night and get's so sucked into what they are selling. SO every year around christmas time we are always expecting packages marked QVC. He always picks one thing that he thinks we just can't live without and gives to to a family member for christmas. Last year was a pineapple cutter and we couldn't wait to see what it would be this year. So it's christmas morning and we are nearing the end of our presents when scotty unwraps a blanket/robe looking thing and we all kinda just look at it confused, when my dad jumps in sounding just like someone off of QVC, "it's a slanket!!" you'll love it, it's a blanket with sleeves so you can wear it around the house when you are cold, and won't have to use your sheets from your bed!!! It's sooo cool, and so convenient....ect ect. Not too long after that jeffrey and then i unwrap a slanket as well. They were definently the joke on christmas morning but i see jeff and scotty using theirs all the time, and i'm not gonna lie, i think it will be great for the cold idaho winters.

highlights from San Diego

* ice skating! It's been years since i had last ice skated so it was a fun treat to take the kids ice skating. everyone had a rough start but then got into the swing of things and we all ended up having a fun time.
*New years eve with the kids! yep, i spent new years with 6 kids [RJ, Maddie, Payton, Emily, Kate, and Andrew] and i! it was actually a really fun time. we danced all night and when midnight struck we ran up and down the streets banging pots and pans. i know it sounds crazy but i had SO MUCH fun!
*PUZZLES! Since mexico this last summer we have all been obsessed with puzzles! Since it's winter break and there is no schedule for the day we spent much of our time doing puzzles. this may sound boring to some, but it keeps us entertained for hours. i'm proud to say we completed two 1,000 piece puzzles and started on a third in just a six day span.
* Payton's 5th birthday! this year payton had a "family day" for her birthday and it was really nice. We all hung around the house all day doing puzzles and just playing together and then met up with the cousins for dinner. Payton got to chose where we ate and she chose good ole' IHOP. It was a fun day and payton was SO excited to finally be 5.
*Little andrew is a stud at guitar hero!! On new years eve RJ pulled out guitar hero and all the kids were dancing around the room. Then someone pointed out andrew and we all couldn't help but laugh and pull out the camera. He had the spare guitar and was rocking out on it right next to RJ. For some reason a 18 month old playing guitar hero is just the cutest thing!!
* SUSHI! there is NO place that evens sells sushi in all of rexburg and i have nobody who likes it back at home to go with me, so it is always a treat to go to san diego and get sushi with rob and rach!! we went to a new place this time, sushiya, and it did not disappoint!!
*Geocashing! The hazen's have a new obsession: geocashing, and since i was in town i got to join in on the fun. It's like a little underground community that hides prizes in boxes all over the country. You use GPS to locate these boxes and then refill them with prizes! It's totally fun and they are actually all over the town.
